The Acorn Room

This caters for up to fifteen babies from birth to around twenty months in age. It has a milk kitchen, changing room and separate sleep room. The unit is a cosy and natural environment for the babies, with loose parts and natural resources. The toys and activities in this room are all age-appropriate to help promote development. Babies have their own purpose-built garden area with age-appropriate toys, free flow opportunities and U.V protected canopy allowing outdoor play all year round.

A Day in the Life

The acorn room accepts babies from birth, and children stay here until they are between twenty months to two years, depending on their individual development. In our baby unit at Tigger’s at Cirencester we make every effort to follow your routines and requirements. Before enrolment at Tigger’s we discuss and agree all of this key information to ensure we get things just right for your baby. Home visits are available upon request.

The acorn room is led by a Senior Nursery Nurse who is well qualified and experienced in providing an environment where every baby feels loved, happy and secure. Here your baby can begin to explore and discover their own individual personalities. With a maximum of just fifteen babies, you can feel confident that your baby is our priority. We maintain strict ratios of adults to babies at all times, with a minimum of one member of staff to three babies.

Our staff work very closely with parents to ensure every baby feels secure and settled. Our partnership with parents is vital to us. The information you provide is used to inform our planning and helps determine the activities for your baby’s day. We aim to provide an individually tailored experience for each baby, to promote their development and well-being. The baby room has a large airy play room where babies can explore and discover at their own pace with spaced out mat areas and dividers allowing smaller groups during appropriate stages of the day to do different activities at the same time, reflecting individual needs and development. Where more physical activities are happening in the main room this means that the younger babies can have their own space and activities set out in the other areas of the play room. We also recognise the importance of a cuddle during a busy day and make sure that the babies feel loved and comfortable. The babies enjoy the garden, regardless of the weather due to having their own large U.V protected canopy, on a daily basis. Babies' routines are followed and so staff ensure that all activities are available at all times of the day so that all babies can take part in all activities.

Home produced food is used for mealtimes for the babies under one year, and our set healthy menu for the over ones, at no additional charge. The babies eat their meals and snacks together and mealtimes are a social and enjoyable experience. Babies are required to attend for a whole day so that disruption to their routines is minimal. Parents are required to supply breast milk or infant formula for feeds, as well as nappies, pull-ups, wipes, cotton wool, and barrier creams.
