The Mulberry Room

The Mulberry Room is a beautiful room designed for 15 two to three year olds.

Mulberry is a large and spacious room with nappy changing facilities and toilets with potties for potty training, which is usually started at this stage. Plenty of encouragement and praise is given in order to achieve this successfully. We request that plenty of spare clothes are available when they are "in training".

Mulberry have their own acces door, directly leading from the Nursery reception with a recording ring door bell to monitor users. They also have their own large outside wetpour area that they can freeflow onto directly from their room.

The room is run by our Senior Nursery Nurse and has excellent relationships with both children and their parents.

Our main emphasis for children in this age group is learning through play. Children take part in a lot of activities with sand, water, playdough and other malleable materials. There is plenty of messy play and the Mulberry room is a very ‘hands on’ room with lots of different play materials and objects to explore, ensuring that all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage are covered. This is closely monitored and observed by our skilful mini-nursery staff. Naturally, our focus is on what the children learn from an activity rather than what they produce to take home.

The busy schedule of planned activities develops individuals’ skills and confidence in preparation for pre-school. The large, airy playroom gives plenty of scope for the children to enjoy music, dance, singing, stories, puppets and toys.

Our Mulberry children often play in small groups, usually with their key person and make the most of all of their learning and play areas. All activities can also be done in the garden and so we ask you to provide appropriate clothing for the day.

Sleep time is in a gorgeous, separate area within their sleep loft, with wooden cosy tub beds. This area is up in a safe space, so that sleep is not disturbed and play can continue for those who no longer require a mid-day snooze.
